Xeon E5-2699 V5: new Intel 32 cores processor

In the middle of 2017, as expected, chip maker Intel will release a line of server processors Skylake-EP, and yesterday in the Network leaked information about top models new line of Xeon E5-2699 V5.

As it became known, on the current most powerful Xeon processors, the increase will be significant. This is because of the novelty by as much as 10 more cores. That is, the Xeon E5-2699 V5 will be 32 cores, and, respectively, 64 threads, and designed a new processor for huge socket LGA 3647. Currently an engineering sample of this CPU running at 2.1 GHz. To the release, maybe will be a little bigger.

In addition to significantly increasing the number of cores, Skylake-EP would be another “trick” is 512-bit Advanced Vector instructions. They theoretically should increase performance in floating point operations, as well as in the algorithms of encryption and decryption.

Apparently, in the server segment will soon unfold good competition, because AMD is also preparing a server processor and Naples, which will also be 32 cores and 64 threads, too.
