Seagate FireCuda: released 2.5-inch hybrid drives

Seagate FireCuda is very unusual and interesting drives. This hybrid, that is combined in one housing and traditional HDD plate (with the head, they rotate, as usual) and another MLC NAND circuit for caching. The most commonly used data storage loads itself into the chip, which is fast. They are called SSHD. But enough of the lyrics. The day before Seagate has released the fifth generation FireCuda SSHD-drives.

Seagate FireCuda: Features

New items will be available in capacities of 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB, and interestingly enough, they are now in a 2.5-inch body thickness of 7 mm, that is perfectly suited to any laptop. Regardless of the size of a drive, chip MLC NAND-memory of 8 GB (for which caching), and 128 MB of RAM consistently (buffer). Magnetic plate rotate too quickly – 5400 rev / min. At the moment, 2.5-inch Seagate FireCuda already delivered in shops, but the official release date has not yet been disclosed. According to rumors, in the 2 TB model will cost about $ 100.
