REVIEW CORSAIR SABRE OPTICAL RGB AND CORSAIR MM800 RGB POLARIS

In recent years, the combination of «RGB» we meet more often. RGB-lighting in fan casings, cards, mice, keyboards, headsets … The list could go on and on. Sooner or later it had to happen – the producers have decided to please fans of bright parts and began to produce mouse pads from the RGB-backlit.

Not far behind in this regard and Corsair company, which recently introduced a mat CORSAIR MM800 RGB Polaris. We are faced with the question: it needs light rug? Many are likely to answer no. We believe that such a response will be very close to reality.

But it is also worth considering the opinion of those to whom such decisions are like, because it is to them and designed, this eye-catching device. Reviw new product we will be together with the production of the mouse of the same company – CORSAIR Sabre Optical RGB. Review of “two in one”, so to speak.

Making packaging Corsair most manufactured devices made in the same style – black boxes in combination with yellow accents. The packaging describes the main features of the supplied devices, information is presented in several languages.

We now turn to the mat CORSAIR MM800 RGB Polaris. Inside the box mat is fixed in a plastic insert, and its surface is protected from minor damage to a thin transparent plastic bezel.

Package as in the case of a mouse, the device consists of and documentation.

APPEARANCE AND DESIGN

Corsair Sabre Optical RGB is a representative of “the right rulnyh rukih” mice. In our case, we are dealing with an updated model, where instead of the sensor with a maximum resolution of 6400 DPI, set the sensor with a maximum resolution of 10000 DPI (as far as we know, the mouse with a new sensor are available from January of this year). Also distinguishing feature is the logo of the manufacturer. Previously used Corsair Gaming Division logo, which was subsequently abandoned, leading to the general appearance of the logo.

CORSAIR Sabre Optical RGB housing is made of a nice soft-touch plastic. It is said that he collects prints as quickly as it is cleaned. Regarding the ergonomic features of the body can say this – this model is well suited for all popular types of grip, but the greatest comfort at work will be able to feel the fans grip with your fingertips or a claw.

Palmar grip in the case of CORSAIR Sabre Optical RGB least convenient, since the right face has a concave shape that does not allow comfortable enough to place on her little finger and ring finger. Also worth noting is that the mouse is pretty solid and is unlikely to fit the owner of a small palm.

The left side, in contrast to the right, made almost perfectly. In any type of grip thumb rests exactly in its place, and a well-chosen location of the additional buttons and their form of rule accidentally pressed. Here you can see the display of the active profile DPI, which changes color depending on the selected recording pixels (the color, you can choose in the software CUE). This element does not overlap with his hand, so to determine the active profile DPI can be quickly and accurately by looking at the color of the indicator.

The logo of the manufacturer, located in the body of the mouse is the second of four zones with RGB backlight. Its color and glow modes change in the company’s software, which we describe below.

At Corsair Sabre Optical RGB has a good defense of inflection and chafing of the cable, made in the form of protruding from the plastic battery case, which is slightly lifts the cable over the carpet surface. Right there, on the right side (with respect to the photo), for decorative ribbing hidden third zone RGB-illumination.

Place, frankly, well chosen, since the backlight of this element is quite unknown, except that on purpose to deploy the mouse to yourself and see there. Two additional buttons to the left of the main left button, originally used to quickly switch between profiles DPI. Of course, you can reassign them to action in its sole discretion.

If you have carefully reviewed the photos, located above the already noticed RGB backlight fourth zone located on the scroll wheel. The backlight is bright and rich, made around the perimeter of the wheel. Needless wheel has a nice little tugovato move when scrolling through the presence of small tactile feedback. Coverage from rubberized wheel, on the cover is present protector, providing better contact with the thumb wheel surface. Above it is a large additional button with possibility of programming the action, for which, we believe, perfectly fit the following action: quick switch profiles or mode “sniper”.

Take a look at the mouse from the back side. What is remarkable eye – there are no labels with additional information, which is usually placed here. In terms of area allocated 4 Teflon feet, gliding over the surface of the mouse. To facilitate the removal of the feet are special small holes. In the center is a high-precision optical sensor with a maximum resolution of 10000 DPI. It is strange that the manufacturer does not indicate anywhere model installed in the sensor mouse. Most likely, we used Avago S3988.

Mouse cable has a length of 1.8 meters, is enclosed in a tissue sheath. Connector at CORSAIR Sabre Optical RGB, as well as the entire periphery of the Corsair new, massive enough, the shell is made in black and gray.

Now on to the carpet CORSAIR MM800 RGB Polaris. The front surface of the carpet is made of plastic with a low roughness. Such a surface is referred to as «Speed» types. Unlike the «Control», on a surface of the mouse glides much better, but you need to understand the suffering of positioning accuracy.

The dimensions of the carpet, as mentioned earlier, is 36 x 26 cm – the area is enough for comfortable work. Bottom right is a translucent Corsair logo, which will be highlighted in the same color as the closest element of illumination, of which 15 at Polaris.

The cable comes out of a special plastic insert, which rises above the work surface, which is located in the center of the upper face of the carpet. There is also the additional USB-ports, which can be used to connect a mouse or, for example, flash drives.Decorative elements to the left and to the right, made of glossy plastic. The cable, as you can see, has a standard protection against inflection.

The cable itself, as is the case with CORSAIR Sabre Optical RGB, is enclosed in a tissue sheath, a length of 1.8 meters. Connector itself exactly the same.

The reverse side of CORSAIR MM800 RGB Polaris made of rubberized material with the texture in the form of so-called “pimple”, which allows the mat to remain in place even when applying force from the user.

A mouse in conjunction with a proprietary carpet looks very attractive. And how it looks with the activation of the joint modes RGB backlighting – just fantastic!

Below we give examples of all joint backlight modes. If we add to this also the possibility Corsair K70 RGB or STRAFE RGB, then you get a real multi-colored garland, which can replace Christmas tree in the room gamer.

SOFTWARE

The software presents a proprietary utility called Corsair Utility Engine (CUE). Not so long ago the software update received, which not only add new features, but also completely changed his appearance. It now looks like the main window of the CUE. Top left shows an active profile, there is a menu to create / edit profiles. In the central part of the display connected to the current Corsair devices that support the CUE.

Clicking on the gear located at the top, you go out the window CUE settings. Here you can make some settings for the connected devices, as well as update their firmware, if necessary. In the same window in a separate block handed adjustment of the software where you can change the language to enable autorun, check for updates and more.

Now consider the configuration of each device in more detail. As we have said, you can remap almost all mouse buttons, available only LKM. Assign button can be submitted by any of the actions in the list of: macro, text, assign keystrokes, the effect of the media player, activate the timer to appoint quick switch profiles or even turn it off in case of uselessness. We should also mention the advanced macro editor that records not only the actions entered from the keyboard, but also pressing the mouse button and the coordinates of the cursor.

In the tab “Highlights” you, respectively, can adjust the backlight 3 of the 4 elements – the logo, the wheel and the “lights”, located in front of. Modes abound, and when you activate “additional” switch you will discover even more ways to configure certain effects.

Tab «DPI» responsible for setting the DPI profiles. Here you will be able to assign each profile its color.

The “Performance” is available change the following options: Activate smoothing corners, change the height of the separation, the activation of increasing the accuracy of the index and changes in the pointer speed.

pad settings are not so rich, but also customize it, for obvious reasons, in addition to the backlight, nothing more. Available modes are the same as in the case of CORSAIR Sabre Optical RGB. You can also separately adjust the color of each of the 15 zones. Well, in the event of an “additional” switch you open a detailed setting lighting effects. There is something to experiment with.

IMPRESSIONS FROM THE USE

Let’s start again with the mouse. Corsair Sabre Optical RGB – Solid arm. This mouse has excellent filling and all this is complemented by advanced software. But, unfortunately, the shape of the mouse body is not suitable for everyone. During the test week, on condition that almost everyone who used it, hold down the mouse palmar grip, pointed misguided form of the right side, which is extremely problematic placement of the ring finger and little finger, which can cause discomfort during long hours of work.

If you hold the mouse with your fingertips or using a claw grip (also debatable, depending on the placement of fingers), you CORSAIR Sabre Optical RGB, most likely, will have to taste. In any case, before you decide – the mouse is right for you or not, it must first touch, take it in hand to “try.” In the mouse – absolutely no complaints, everything worked like clockwork. Pushing the work sensor, macros, etc. – Any delay in the work were noted.

We now turn to the mat Corsair MM800 RGB Polaris. After the tissue type of carpet «Control», rather difficult to go directly to the surface of the type «Speed», in this case a complete habituation process took about a week. Any mouse really just flying over the surface, he is firmly fixed on the carpet surface. The backlight is bright and intense, a lot of profiles, you can also customize the glow effects to your taste.

The only thing that can be noted from the unpleasant features that we identified during testing – grazing mouse cable protruding element located in the center of the top of the carpet. In our opinion, the Corsair is better to abandon it (or at least move closer to the edge), which excludes the existence of any problems. The mouse can be connected directly to the motherboard, cable length all modern mice completely allows it. As for the rest, again, absolutely no problem in setting up lighting and we have not met.

CONCLUSION

I am glad that Corsair improves its previously issued Soup, example of this renewed Corsair Sabre Optical RGB, and at the same time to issue new very interesting device, such as Corsair MM800 RGB Polaris. The mouse has an almost complete set of positive qualities of a good gamepad – quality components and assembly, nice materials, good software. The only thing that we are wicked – one ergonomic feature, due to which the retention of palmar grip becomes less convenient. For the price – it all depends on the particular store and a particular model, as there are still mice released until January of this year. The recommended price for the updated model is $ 60 US.

Corsair MM800 RGB Polaris – one of the very few rugs equipped with RGB-backlit. Dopolnenenie as advanced software makes setting effects rather interesting occupation. Surface type «Speed» allows any mouse to fly on a carpet. And, of course, it does not mention the possibility of combining lighting effects in devices Corsair – it’s just izumetilnoe addition for fans of bright and unusual devices. What is the price? The recommended price for Corsair MM800 RGB Polaris is 70 US $. I
