Despite the fact that the three major chipmakers have updated their lines with new products, motherboard manufacturers continue to note a significant reduction in the supply of their goods in the current quarter. Even worse, according to forecasts, this situation will be observed in the second quarter of 2017.
In the industry, high hopes were attributed to the release by Intel of the generation of Kaby Lake processors and compatible Intel 200 Series chipsets, including the Z270 logic released in January. In addition, users had to call up fresh eight-core CPU Ryzen 7 1800X, 1700X and 1700 from AMD, as well as a new top graphics accelerator GeForce GTX 1080 Ti from NVIDIA, which started in March. However, this did not stimulate the market.
Manufacturers and sellers are already responding to the unfavorable situation. So, Chipzilla lowered the prices for several processors of the previous generation, including Core i7-6950X. In addition, we can note the fall of the price tag GeForce GTX 1080 from $ 699 to $ 499. To remedy the situation, Chinese vendors, for example, already offer the GTX 1060 and GTX 1070 below their initial cost.
Speaking about the problems of specific companies, ASUStek and Gigabyte predict the supply of less than 4 million of their fees for each in the first quarter, which is the lowest in the last few years. In this case, the producers of the second and third echelon will face even greater difficulties.
Recall that in the second quarter of 2017, the arrival of the AMD Ryzen 5 series processors and the Radeon RX500 series is expected on the market, but motherboard developers do not believe that these products will be able to resuscitate large volumes of deliveries, since AMD has not too much share in the Corresponding segments.
Experts say that the deliveries and incomes of motherboard and graphics card manufacturers will decrease significantly in the first half of the year, but it is expected that for ASUStek and Gigabyte the fall in performance will be less critical than the average for the market, thanks to still stable demand in the gaming segment.
It seems that the situation on the market will be negative until the third quarter of 2017, when the traditional seasonal surge in sales will begin, and the top-end series of the Intel Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors together with the X299 chipset are planned, along with the mass-marketed chips Line AMD Ryzen 3.
