HyperX Cloud Stinger review gaming headset

HyperX Cloud Stinger review gaming headset

As has been mentioned by me in the reviews, the frequency of release of new models of gaming headsets HyperX u can only envy (in the best sense of the word). It would seem that only 2-3 months ago, the company released headphones Cloud Drone, which for our recommended price was quite fit. And on the eve of another novelty in the portfolio of the manufacturer, HyperX Cloud Stinger.

And again it would seem that the budget segment is closed and it is time to release something new masthead. Nobody is arguing that Revolver is almost perfect headphones. Quality, sound, beautiful, everything. However, new things are in the expensive segment not long ago.

However, HyperX has gone a bit the other way, and newly issued HyperX Cloud Stinger (HX-HSCS-BK/EE) again belong to the budget segment, but are slightly more expensive.

HyperX Cloud Stinger: Packaging equipment

HyperX Cloud Stinger comes in a fairly large and, not to mention, well decorated box. In the top red bar where you mentioned about compatibility, not only with the “Orthodox” PC, but also Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Wii U, as well as with Mac and mobile phones. Of course, everything will work in terms of sound, but the microphone is more complicated. But more on that later.

On the back of the box lists the basic way to say “chips” headset. There is mention of a metal frame, allowing rotation of the cups 90 degrees, convenient volume control, and stuff like that.

Packed the headphones in a foam damper, where it’s nice and tightly fixed. During transport is not damaged by far.

In addition to the headset in the box I found a small manual on the use of the box with the product photo of HyperX and an extension cord for the wire of length 1.7 m.

Externally, the packaging is very nice, everything is secure, but the set would be bigger. Nakleechka logo would be superfluous were not.

HyperX Cloud Stinger: Appearance and design features

“The taste and color markers are different,” but as for me HyperX Cloud Stinger look pretty good. Completely black, with sleek angles.Of the total black background focuses on the logos of the manufacturer on the bowls.

The headset is made entirely of matte plastic and is good from the point of view of practicality. First, it is not easily soiled, and secondly, through the use of plastic novelty out pretty easy – only 275 g. This is a big plus.

The base frame is made of metal with a plastic insert. Headphones also can be slightly adjusted for height. Feel and appearance this mechanism is quite hardy, but here and there once again is better not to pull.

The headband and the cups dampers-branded high quality foam HyperX. The same was used in the top Revolver. An interesting feature of this foam is that when heated, it becomes softer (enough heat from the head), while cooling restores the form.

Consider yourself bowls. They can be rotated to the sides as much as 90 degrees, and you can do so here:

On the right side set the slider volume control. He is, I must say, very successfully, because the thumb falls on him, pulling the hand to the controller. Moreover, it is even more convenient than a separate unit on a wire.

On the left Cup the microphone and wire. They both Unclip, but to disable the microphone you only have to lift up. Leg well bent and at a predetermined position and remains. In General, it is possible to set for themselves.

Separate + for an easily removable lining, in which case that can simply be removed and washed.

Finally about the wire. He is without a braid, a length of 1.3 m, and ends with a single 3.5 mm plug. And just at this moment reveals to be compatible with the game console (if connected to the controller). Whether plug two, it would have to choose between the microphone and the sound (entrance on the joystick one), and here through one plug is “this and that”. You can even connect to the phone and walk down the street. Unless, of course, appearance and sticking out into the sky microphone a La antenna are not confused.

To connect HyperX Cloud Stinger to the computer and designed wire extension cable, which performs the role of razdvoitsya. At its end is two 3.5 mm Jack connectors for microphone and sound separately. Total cable length for 3 m, and it was good.

HyperX Cloud Stinger: sound and convenience

The basis of the HyperX Cloud Stinger 50 mm speakers with neodymium magnet, directing the sound directly into the ear. NdFeB magnet is good in that over time its magnetic properties are not substantially changed, and the speaker itself will last a long time. In the “dry” characteristics is the frequency of the playback 18-23000 Hz and the resistance is 30 Ohms. 30 Ohm is not much, and the novelty can be used with phone and PC with weak audio path.

The quality of sound Cloud is superior to the Stinger Drone, but not too much. Bass is good, aided by the large diameter of the membrane. At maximum volume “yelling” loud, really loud.

Movies listen to good, but the music does not clear up. Good bass, there are details of the “top” is sufficient, but felt that something was missing. It’s hard to convey, but in total I would rate the music play 7 out of 10.

But in games everything is fine. As in those that require exact positioning (CS) and in those where it all just “Bach” (Battlefield 1). The difference in quality with more expensive models of course tangible, but as for the model for ~$60 it’s quite on the level

Condenser microphone, uni-directional, with active noise cancellation. The microphone was suddenly not the quality class.Recording with him is:

On-the-head headset sits well, and cups completely cover the ear. Excellent noise isolation. Just great. Not hear what is happening around you, and outsiders can not hear what you have in headphones.

HyperX Cloud Stinger: Conclusion

So whether or HyperX Cloud Stinger (HX-HSCS-BK/EE) surcharges extra “Grand,” or the first decent headset is better to take a Drone Cloud and save? Of course, it all depends on budget and in this price range every ~$15 is very significant, but over the extra ~$15 we get a gaming headset, which already looks very decent, and sounds.

But let’s now forget about the Drone and consider the Stinger as a completely separate product. The headset is nice, really comfortable, with very good sound and microphone. All for $75.

HyperX have once again succeeded in making a model, in which the ratio price/quality is at very high level. And it’s a great choice!

Pros HyperX Cloud Stinger:

  • Price
  • Convenient volume control
  • Brand foam HyperX
  • Removable lining with bowls
  • Compatible with consoles
  • Light weight
  • Good bass
  • Microphone

Cons HyperX Cloud Stinger:

  • Spartan kit
  • Cable without braid

Of course, the cons could still write non-detachable cable and microphone, but is more a feature as a class, not as a defect of a particular model.
