GIGABYTE G750H REVIEW AND TEST POWER SUPPLY

GIGABYTE G750H REVIEW AND TEST POWER SUPPLY

Company Gigabyte continues to become a leader in the production of computer components. In motherboard, they have long entrenched in the top three. The last couple of years steadily improved in the manufacture of graphics cards. And now we are seeing the onset of the company in the PSU market. Previously fastidious users didn’t even notice this manufacturer when choosing a PSU for your computer. But the situation is changing rapidly, and Gigabyte have something to offer us, not only in the budget segment. Earlier, we in edition have not been BP, but I think we and our readers will be interested to evaluate them.

Today we look at the power supply unit Gigabyte G750H, released this year. He has a certificate 80 PLUS Gold, built on the actual resonant circuit with a synchronous regulator-based DC-DC converters. This model focused on a gaming system with the ability to install two graphics cards.

GIGABYTE G750H: PACKAGING EQUIPMENT

The power supply comes in a traditional cardboard box. The design used a black background and gold inserts, symbolizing the Gold certificate. On the obverse there is an image of the power supply with black glossy panels, giving the image depth. In addition to the name of the model present the certificate icon and three icon modular cables, Japanese capacitors and a ball bearing.

On the back of the box there are additional icons: protection, intelligent control of fan rotation and ErP 2013. Here is a table of load characteristics and the enumeration of the cables and connectors you see above.

At the end of the box lists the specifications. On the bottom of the box gives a brief specification in several languages, including Russian.

Inside the box under a separate cardboard lid is a compartment with cables. The PSU is carefully packaged in a strip of foamed polyurethane.

In addition, the power supply itself and the cable is fabric pouch for cables, four reusable ties, mounting screws and user manual.

All cables except network, flat black and quite soft. A total of six removable cables. There are small differences with the picture. Cables with connectors are SATA included two three pads instead of two with two and one with three pads. But the six plugs is enough length of wires will suffice for any case. Attached cables are also flat, for convenience they are divided into two plume. All portable pads on the cables except PCI-E, are connected by the latches.

GIGABYTE G750H: APPEARANCE

Here everything is standard: a regular prism, without design refinements; well, right, why the extra cost of appearance?

Back with traditional cell perforation and sticker serial numbers.

On the sides of the sticker with model name, bottom – load characteristics. Top with lattice is located a fan, and the center is inset with the logo.

On the front side there is a round hole with a plastic ring for the withdrawal of the main cables and six connectors in two rows for connection of detachable cables.

Cover of the power supply is mounted on two screws on top and paired with two sides. The warranty sticker on the screws was missing, but perhaps it is not only on our test instance.

GIGABYTE G750H: COOLING

Electronic components blows 140mm fans Yate Loon D14BM-12, which uses the rolling bearing. It is connected to 2-pin connector. Part of the fan is closed by a plastic insert, designed for air distribution. At startup the fan runs at high speed, which are then reduced to the minimum. After a power failure the blades continue to rotate for some time.

GIGABYTE G750H REVIEW AND TEST POWER SUPPLY

Minimum fan speed – 800 rpm, at this speed it is almost inaudible. The noise is 37 dB.This speed is maintained until the maximum load. Only when prolonged stress with increasing temperature the revs smoothly increase with the corresponding increase in noise to 42 decibels. The rest of the active cooling in the computer case you still do not hear. The maximum fan speed was 1000 rpm. And if to consider that computer with a single graphics card consumes rarely more than 350-400 watts, then the power supply will always be very quiet.Additional noise from the electronics in this instance no.

GIGABYTE G750H: CIRCUITRY

Power supply Gigabyte G750H done on acquaintance us OEM platform CWT. We recently tested the PSU Smart Thermaltake DPS G 650W, and here we see almost an identical Board with a few exceptions in the absence of boards with additional “smart” processor and a small circuit Board PWM controller. Those who have read the previous review, can skip this paragraph.

The layout of the elements on the Board is quite dense, used items do not require significant cooling. On the Board we see only one large radiator at the top, it is the power components of the Converter, the corrector output and the diode bridge. Two small radiator cooled the MOSFETs located on the opposite side of the Board.

At the entrance we see a full EMI filter, the filter part is soldered directly to the outlet. There is also a varistor and a fuse.

On a common radiator with the edge set diode Assembly GBU15L06, then the couple of the transistors of the inverter – R6030ENX, a pair of transistors of the corrector power – GP28S60G and diode D0865C5.

On the edge of the Board – choke APFC in a plastic casing, followed by a smoothing capacitor Japanese made Nippon Chemi-Con 470 UF capacity, designed for voltages up to 450 V and the temperature to 105 °C. In the corner charges a pair of capacitors and a couple inductors of the resonant circuit of the transducer is an integral part of the scheme of a synchronous Converter. This scheme, though harder than usual, but much more effective.

Chip CM6901X that manages the Converter is on a separate vertical charge located on the edge of the Prime.

And the chip manages the power corrector СМ6502 is located on the back side of the main Board.

Then behind the radiator is two transformers: power and power source. Near smaller to be the source of the duty voltage on the popular chip TNY177PN.

For transformers starts on the secondary circuit, the transformer is removed, the voltage of +12 V. Six transistors of a synchronous Converter SG40N01D located on the reverse side of the Board, through the solder and circuit Board tracks, they are contacted and cooled by two radiators on the front side of the Board.

GIGABYTE G750H REVIEW AND TEST POWER SUPPLY

Vertically there is a small Board DC-DC Converter that generates the voltage of +3.3 V and +5 V from +12 V. Here we see a pair of transistors M3006D and M3016D for each channel. Directs the work of the Converter chip APW7159. On the other hand this Board a couple of chokes, and solid capacitors, covered with foil.

In the output filter used as solid-state and conventional capacitors Japanese production. On Board connectors for connection of cables of the additional filter elements no.

For the protection of the power supply is provided Sitronix ST9S313. It provides all types of protection. Soldering and mounting on the reverse side of the Board performed accurately and efficiently.

GIGABYTE G750H: TESTING

The test bench allows to load a line +12 In increments of 100 watts. Lines +3.3 V and +5 V is connected to a constant load of 50 W, which is a typical load on these lines in the real system.

According to the requirements of the ATX standard, the deviation must not exceed 5%, thus, the rate for +12 is in the range of 11.4-12.6 V.

The stability of voltages on a very good level of deviation throughout the range of not more than 2%. It is a great result. This model is able to provide stable power to the CPU and one or two graphics cards.

GIGABYTE G750H REVIEW AND TEST POWER SUPPLY

Efficiency gold power supply is very high, the maximum rate at a power of 300-350 watts. He certainly fits the standard under certificate 80 PLUS Gold 92% at 50% load. And does not fall below 86% at minimum and maximum loads.

Protection without any problems triggered on all lines.

GIGABYTE G750H: CONCLUSION

The power supply unit Gigabyte G750H excellent voltage regulation, efficiency it is fully integrated into the standard 80 PLUS Gold. Happy almost noiseless cooling system. Modular design flat and soft cables adds to the convenience in their installation and Assembly of the computer. The PSU is quite affordable price among identical competitors. No complaints about the build and execution. If the power of the 750 watts is in demand, then we can definitely recommend the tested power unit from Gigabyte to the installation in the productive gaming or working the system.
