Like other motherboard manufacturers, ASUSTeK Computer Company brought to Computex 2017 its new solutions based on the tandem of the Intel X299 system logic set and the LGA2066 processor socket. At the stand of the Taiwanese vendor, our colleagues from TechPowerUp web portal managed to find two new models: ASUS TUF X299 Mark 2 and Prime X299-A. However, according to available information, ASUS ultimately plans to launch about a dozen new motherboards for Kaby Lake processors -X and Skylake-X.
Both motherboards received an 8-phase CPU power system and four slots for installing DDR4 memory on each side of the processor socket. Three PCI Express 3.0 x16 connectors are supported on the PCB, supporting multi-GPU links in x16 / x16 or x16 / x8 / x8 modes, two M.2 (32 Gbps) and a 6 Gbps SATA port. ASUS TUF X299 Mark 2 is also equipped with two PCI-E 3.0 x1 and one PCI-E 3.0 x4, and ASUS Prime X299-A board has at its disposal a pair of PCI Express 3.0 x4 and one PCI-E 3.0 x1.
Among the set of connectors on the I / O panel is the presence of USB 3.1 Type-A and Type-C ports, a Gigabit Ethernet interface RJ45 based on the Intel i219-V controller, and a set of audio interfaces for which the Realtek ALC1220A audio codec is responsible.
According to preliminary data, the model ASUS Prime X299-A will teach the price tag around $ 200. More detailed characteristics of the novelties will be known closer to the second half of June.
