ASUS has announced a series of production of graphics cards ASUS ROG STRIX RX 480, built on the basis of a bunch GPU AMD Polaris 10 and 8GB of GDDR5-memory. It is composed of two models: ASUS ROG STRIX RX 480 (ROG STRIX-RX480-8G-GAMING) and ASUS ROG STRIX RX 480 (ROG STRIX-RX480-O8G-GAMING). Both of them support the work in two modes: «Gaming» (default) and «OC».
The first mode in ASUS ROG STRIX-RX480-8G-GAMING is characterized by support for the reference frequency formula, and laid a small overclocking «OC» profile: base frequency is not specified, but the dynamic is increased to 20 MHz (up to 1286 MHz). In turn, ASUS ROG STRIX-RX480-O8G-GAMING in both profiles different factory overclocked: dynamic frequency increased to 1310 MHz and 1330 MHz respectively. As a result of the performance indicators in the benchmark 3DMark FireStrike increased by 15%, and in DOOM games and the Hitman – 19% (according to internal tests).
Particular attention in the models of the series ASUS ROG STRIX RX 480 would like to be given the power subsystem. ASUS ‘engineers have completely redesigned the node, realizing the power of new products exclusively from additional connectors PCIe. As a result, PCI Express x16 slot does not take part in it, why worry about exceeding the power consumption through this interface is not necessary.
