8-nanometer technical process is allready done. The Samsung Electronics corporation the day before declared readiness to start mass production of chips according to 8-nanometer technological norms of LPP (Low Power Plus).
The South Korean giant managed to finish qualification of technical process of 8LPP for three months before the led-out periods, and new chips will be able to brag for 10% of smaller energy consumption and the area in comparison with 10-nanometer predecessors.
Technical process of 8LPP will become the most advanced standard before transition to production of chips with use of an ultra-violet (EUV) lithograph.
New norms first of all will find application during creation of powerful mobile chips, different network devices and also decisions for production of cryptocurrencies. As for plans for the future, in 2019 the South Korean giant plans to develop production of 7-nanometer chips with use of an EUV lithograph.
At the same time, judging by available information on the Network, the same year Samsung can switch to 6-and 5-nanometer technical processes.
